Garcia Wins South Beach International Amateur

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – University of Florida freshman golfer Jorge Garcia fired a 5-under 66 on Wednesday to capture the South Beach International Amateur title.
Garcia's total score of 7-under 276 over the tournament's four rounds lifted the Anaco, Venezuela, native to a three-stroke victory. The freshman was one of nine current, former and future Florida golfers to compete in the event.
Joining Garcia in the top 10 was Andy Zhang, who signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Florida last month. Zhang posted a 1-over 284 to tie for eighth. Freshman Sam Horsfield checked in at a tie for 11th after recording a 2-over 285.
Sophomore Ryan Celano, freshmen Blake Dyer and Kyler Tate, senior Richard Donegan and recent graduate Eric Banks also participated in the tournament but missed the cut after the second round. Freshman Gordon Neale made the cut and finished 74th with a four-round total of +22 (305).
