SKILLMAN, N.J. – Following her undefeated singles outing and 1-1 doubles record at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Team Indoor Championship, freshman Josie Kuhlman was named to the 2015 ITA All-Tournament Team, announced by the ITA Friday.
Kuhlman, the top-ranked freshman currently pegged at a career-high No. 3 in the ITA Division I National Women's Singles Rankings, earned a singles point for the Florida Gators in both their first round victory over No. 13 Clemson, 4-3, and their quarterfinal win over No. 10 Virginia, 4-1. The Ponte Vedra, Fla., native trumped ranked opponent No. 42 Danielle Collins, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, in the Gators' defeat of the Cavaliers. Kuhlman and fellow rookie Peggy Porter took down their first ranked doubles duo in a dual match, No. 11 Cassie Mercer and Skylar Morton of UVA, 6-4, and were recently promoted from their season-opening ranking of No. 17 to No. 9.
Kuhlman remains unbeaten in singles through her four dual matches played this season.
The Florida Gators embark on their first road trip since the ITA National Team Indoor Championship when they head to No. 34 Florida State on Wednesday, Feb. 18 for a 4 p.m. match at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
