Gators Remain Perfect in SEC with 7-0 Sweep of Razorbacks
Friday, March 13, 2015 | Women's Tennis
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Gators continue to roll through their Southeastern Conference schedule after today's road win, as No. 3 Florida defeated No. 44 Arkansas, 7-0, at the Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville Friday afternoon.
Florida flipped its typical No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams to start the day and the strategy worked for the Gators, as both tandems were successful in their new positions in the line-up. Spencer Liang and Belinda Woolcock won 8-4 on two, while No. 22-ranked Josie Kuhlman and Peggy Porter topped Flavia Araujo and Sasha Shkorupeieva of Arkansas on Court 3, 8-5.
Success continued in singles for the Orange and Blue when the Gators swept set one on all six courts. The Razorbacks' top singles player, No. 117 Yuliya Lysa, forced Florida's No. 5-ranked Brooke Austin into three sets, but all other Gators earned straight-set wins.
Florida closes its four-match road swing with Missouri on Sunday, March 15 at 1 p.m. in Columbia, Mo.
