Gators Hope to Continue Success at the Women’s Golf Briar’s Creek Invitational

The Gator women's golf team will travel to Johns Island, S.C., for the Briar's Creek Invitational on March 23-24.
Florida has taken home runner-up honors at its last two tournaments, most recently at the SunTrust Gator Invitational. The team's lone home tournament saw four Gators finish in the top-25, including Karolina Vlckova, who tied for second individually.
Course Information: The Golf Club at Briar's Creek is a par-72, 6,101-yard course.
Tournament Information: The tournament will run from Monday-Tuesday, March 23-24, and is hosted by the College of Charleston.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams will play three rounds, 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
Tee Times:
Monday: 8:45 a.m. (ET) shotgun start (36 holes, continuous play)
Tuesday: 8:45 a.m. (ET) shotgun start (18 holes)
The Gators' Lineup:
Sophomore Karolina Vlckova: Led the team at the SunTrust Gator Invitational by putting up back-to-back season-best scores of one-over (71), to combine for a season-low total of 216 and tied for her collegiate-best finish of second place.
Sophomore Kelly Grassel: A staple in the Gators' lineup this season, finished in a tie for 10th with a total of 224 strokes at the SunTrust Gator Invitational.
Freshman Taylor Tomlinson: Tomlinson was named the SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week following her top-25 finish at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, her fourth top-25 finish this season. The Gainesville, Fla., native, used a +2 (72) in Round 3 to tie for 21st with a total of 226.
Senior Camilla Hedberg: Narrowly missed out on a top-25 finish at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, tying teammate Torres for 26th place recording a total of 228.
Sophomore Maria Torres: Steadily improved during the SunTrust Gator Invitational, recording rounds of 78-76-74 to tie Hedberg for 26th place overall.
Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “We're coming off of a good finish at our home event, so I think the girls are ready to go and anxious to play. The last two events have given our team a little bit of confidence, and certainly have helped us prepare better for each subsequent event. Even though we finished fairly well at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, I think we learned a lot as a team and it's really given our practice a lot of focus over the last couple of weeks.”
New Event, New Ranking: Although the event is in its third year, the Briar's Creek Invitational is a new addition to the Florida schedule. The Gators enter the Briar's Creek Invitational as the No. 25 team according to Golfweek. This marks the first time during the 2014-15 season the Gators' have been ranked in Golfweek's top-25.
