GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 5 Florida Gators look to extend their perfect Southeastern Conference record, when they host No. 26 South Carolina on Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
The Gators lead the all-time series with the Gamecocks, 40-2, and boast a 17-0 record versus South Carolina when playing in Gainesville.
UF remains the only SEC team undefeated in conference action following a tough road test at Texas A&M. The Gators pulled out a 4-3 comeback victory over the Aggies.
Freshman No. 112 Peggy Porter, a native of Dallas, Texas, clinched the win in her home state with a three-set victory over Texas A&M's No. 101-ranked Stefania Hristov, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2). The Gators started at a disadvantage after dropping the doubles point for the first time since Feb. 27. The Orange and Blue quickly found themselves trailing, 2-0, but wins from Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan evened the score. Texas A&M responded with a win at No. 4 to regain the lead, but rookies Josie Kuhlman and Porter managed to close it out for the Gators.
