GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida men's golf assistant coach John Handrigan was selected as the recipient of the 2015 Jan Strickland Award presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday. The national award honors the NCAA Division I, II, II, NAIA or NJCAA assistant coach who excels working with student-athletes, on and off of the course.
This season is Handrigan's fourth with the Gators. It's his first year with head coach JC Deacon after spending the previous few working alongside legendary Florida coach Buddy Alexander. While at UF, Handrigan's assistance has helped the Gators to four tournament victories.

So far this season, Handrigan has aided the Florida squad to earn runner-up honors four times and finish in the top-five six times. He coached A.J. Crouch to capture an individual title at the FGCU Classic in October, UF's first victory in an individual contest since 2012. Earlier this week at the SEC Championships, the Orange and Blue tied for seventh place, improving five spots from last season's conference tournament finish.
Handrigan was also chosen as a finalist for the Strickland Award in 2013.
As a prize, Handrigan will be invited to the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Kingdom in Carlsbad, Calif.

Head Coach JC Deacon:
“I'm so happy for John because I really think he exemplifies everything that a golf coach should be. He's hard-working, he's dedicated, he has a love for the kids, and we are so lucky to have him. I am so lucky to have him, and I know this year and my life would not be as successful as it's been without John Handrigan.”
