The Florida women's golf team was announced as part of the field for the 2015 NCAA Women's Golf Regional Tournament in Raleigh, N.C., on the Golf Channel on Monday night.
The Gators, who will compete as the No. 5 seed in the regional field, will be attempting to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 26th time in school history. The NCAA Raleigh Regional will be hosted by North Carolina State University and will be played at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
A total of 72 teams and 24 individuals received bids to regional competition. Six teams and three individuals will advance from each regional.
The championships finals will be held from May 22-27 at The Concession Golf Club, in Bradenton, Fla., and will be hosted by the University of South Florida.
Four regional tournaments will be conducted, May 7-9, to determine the championship field. The 2015 finals will feature a new format and will consist of three days (54 holes) of stroke play for all, Friday through Sunday. After Monday, the top eight teams advance to the match-play team championship, and the 72-hole individual national champion will be determined. The Golf Channel will televise the last three days of the NCAA Championship live.
Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “It is always exciting to find out where you will be going for regionals. We are especially excited to be headed to the Raleigh regional. I have heard great things about the golf course, and there will be a lot of familiar teams there. We would have been prepared to play anywhere, but now that its final it will be a fun and focused week at practice as we prepare to play next week.”
