Kuhlman and Woolcock Advance in NCAA Singles Championship

WACO, Texas – Two Gators won their First Round matches in the NCAA Singles Championship and advanced to the Round of 32 Wednesday at the Hurd Tennis Center of Baylor University in Waco Texas.
Sophomore Belinda Woolcock, an alternate in the 64-player field, defeated a top-10-ranked competitor, Pepperdine's No. 9 Lorraine Guillermo, 6-2, 6-3.
“I thought I played a good match today,” Woolcock said. “I stayed aggressive and executed my shots well. I competed hard and used the hot weather to my advantage. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.”
Freshman Josie Kuhlman topped No. 35 Kyle McPhillips of UCLA, 6-4, 6-1, to advance to the next round. She will face No. 17 Viktoriya Lushkova of Oklahoma State, Florida's Round of 16 opponent in the NCAA Team Championship.
Despite dropping their First Round NCAA Singles matches, Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan will compete in the NCAA Doubles Championship, which begins Thursday, May 21.
