TORONTO -- University of Florida infielder Kelsey Stewart and Gator alumna Michelle Moultrie helped the United States national team to a runner-up finish this past week at the 2015 Pan American Games, while pitcher Aleshia Ocasio led Puerto Rico to a bronze medal.
The USA Softball Women's National Team (6-1) suffered their sole loss of the Games in a 4-2 extra-inning decision against host country Canada to earn a silver medal finish in Toronto. With the game scoreless through regulation play, the game entered into the international tiebreaker (ITB) rule as Canada punched in four runs in the top of the eighth. The U.S. would plate two of their own in the bottom half of the frame but were unable to overcome the deficit as Canada went on to win the Gold.
Puerto Rico posted a 4-3 mark during the week and only suffered its losses against the United States and gold-medal winning Canada.
