
Gators Wrap Day 1 at FINA World Championships

KAZAN, Russia -- The University of Florida men's and women's swim teams wrapped day one swimming events at the 2015 FINA World Championships on Sunday afternoon inside Kazan Arena.
Former Gator Conor Dwyer led the Blue and Orange with an 11th-place showing in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay. Dwyer, a 2011 graduate, swam the final leg with a 48.44 split. The USA men's team posted a time of 3:16.01.
UF redshirt sophomore Theresa Michalak took part in the 200-meter IM, finishing 30th overall with a time of 2:17.12.
Jemme Lowe, a 2009 All-American Gator, competed in the 100-meter butterfly. Lowe touched out with a time of 58.74 and finished 19th.
Andreina Pinto, a member of the Gator Swim Club, also had a top-20 showing at Sunday's competition. Pinto took part in the 400-meter freestyle and gathered a 15th-place finish (4:09.75).
The Gators will return to action tomorrow afternoon for day-two competition at the World Championships.
