
Gators in the Pros: Diep Reaches Semifinals in Consecutive Tournaments

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Former Gator All-American, Florent Diep, reached the doubles semifinals in consecutive International Tennis Federation (ITF) Pro Circuit tournaments over the past two weeks.
At the Tunisia F17 Futures on Aug. 4-9, Diep competed with Tak Khunn Wang of France. The duo reached the semifinals by way of straight-set victories in the round of 32 and quarterfinals. Diep and Wang fell in the semifinals to Cristobal Saavedra-Corvalan and Ricardo Urzua-Rivera of Chile, 6-7(4), 4-6.
This week at the Belgium F11 Futures again saw Diep in semifinal action, this time with partner Julien Demois of France. Diep and Demois defeated David Pel and Dennis Van Scheppingen of Netherlands in the quarterfinal round, 6-2, 4-5 [10-4] to advance to the semifinals. The duo's run in the tournament ended with a marathon match against Evan Hoyt and Toby Martin of Great Britain. The British pairing eventually defeated Diep and Demois, 6-7(1), 7-6(4) [8-10].
Diep was a 2014 All-American for the Florida men's tennis team. In his senior season with the Orange and Blue, the Paris native compiled a team-best record of 31-17 and ranked No. 35 in the final ITA rankings.
