
Gators in the Pros: Florent Diep Takes Doubles Title in Tunisia F16 Futures

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Former Gator All-American, Florent Diep, and partner Tak Khunn Wang did not drop a set on their way to a doubles title at the Tunisia F16 Futures this weekend.
The duo moved through the main draw completing four straight set victories with the closest match coming in the semifinals against Saavedra-Corvalan / Urzua-Rivera, 6-3, 6-4. Diep and Wang were able to take the doubles title with a win over Alvarez-Guzman and Dyke, 6-4, 6-0 in the finals round.
The doubles title is the first on the ITF Pro Circuit since the former Gator partnered with Maxime Chazal at the Morocco F3 Futures. Diep and Chazal used straight sets to defeat the Portugal pair of Falcao and Gil, 7-6(5), 6-2 in the final round.
Diep also competed in the singles competition of the Tunisia F16 Futures, reaching the round of 16 by defeat of Javier Apellaniz Napal from Spain, 6-1, 6-2.
Another former Gator, Sekou Bangoura, competed this weekend at the Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships in Lexington, Ky. Bangoura competed with Frank Dancevic to reach the quarterfinals round in doubles. The pair defeated the Japanese team of Niki / Uchiyama, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 in the round of 16 but fell to Dimitar Kutrovsky and Saketh Myneni in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-0.
