
Women’s Tennis Announces 2015-16 Schedule

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2015-16 University of Florida women's tennis schedule includes 16 dual matches against teams that made the NCAA tournament in 2015. Among those competitors are reigning national champions Vanderbilt, who the Gators fell to in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament, Georgia and USC who were NCAA semifinalists, and in-state rival, Florida State, who will travel to Gainesville this year.
All Over the Road
The women's squad will spend the fall season on the road traveling from coast to coast. Their fall season opens with the prestigious American Collegiate Invitational, where Brooke Austin and Josie Kuhlman will compete at the B.J. King Tennis Center during the U.S. Open. The Gators then travel to the Duke Invite in Durham, North Carolina from October 18-20. UF then travels to the west coast for a month, beginning at the end of September. The team will make a stop in Nevada for the Las Vegas Invite and then continuing onto Pacific Palisades, California. for the Rivera/ITA All-American Tournament. The team returns to the east coast for the remainder of the fall season, closing the fall slate at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic in Lakewood Ranch, Florida from November 13-15.
147 and Counting
The Gators will host a myriad of opponents at home this season. Eight of those opponents competed in the NCAA tournament last year, including three semifinalists. 2015 SEC Tournament Champion, Vanderbilt, will visit the Gators on March 12, for what could be the marquee match-up of the season. Overall, Ring Tennis Complex will see four opponents – USC, Baylor, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M - who finished in the Top-10 of the ITA Standings in 2015.
Mark Your Calendars
The SEC Tournament opens Wednesday, April 20 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with the final round being played on Sunday. The NCAA Team First and Second Rounds kick off on Saturday, May 13 across 16 campus sites. The 2016 national champion will be crowned on Tuesday, May 24 at the NCAA Final Four in Tulsa, Oklahoma. NCAA Individual Championships will commence the following day and continue through Sunday, May 28.
