
Gators Kick Off the Fall Season at Two Tournaments

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Florida men's tennis team begins the fall season this weekend with the upperclassmen competing in the Napa Valley Tennis Classic in Napa Valley, Calif., and the underclassman competing in the Bedford Cup in Fort Myers, Fla.
Four Gators –Diego Hidalgo, Gordon Watson, Elliott Orkin, and Maxx Lipman- will compete in the 15th annual Porsche Napa Valley Tennis Classic, competing in both doubles and singles throughout the weekend.
The five remaining UF teammates will head to the Florida Gulf Coast University Tennis Complex to compete in the Bedford Cup, beginning on Friday morning. Freshmen McClain Kessler and Alfredo Perez will team up for doubles action as well as a pairing of Chase Perez-Blanco and Josh Wardell. Sophomore Jordan Belga will only compete in singles action this weekend.

About the Napa Valley Tennis Classic
The Classic was founded as a collaborative effort on the part of UC Berkeley Coach Peter Wright and Meadowood Tennis Pro Doug King to support the Cal tennis program. The tournament will field 24 college players and eight USTA juniors.
Tournament Format
Eight groups of four players (three college players and one junior) will play a round robin with one match per day beginning on Friday morning. The group winners will then be entered in an eight-man tie-breaker shootout draw on Sunday. The Shootout winner will receive a main draw Challenger wild card. Doubles action will consist of two matches- one on Friday and one on Saturday.
