Monday, January 25, 2016 | Men's Basketball
Allen is one of 10 freshmen named to the midseason watch list for national freshman of the year.
KeVaughn Allen has made an impression on Gator fans over the past several weeks, and he's starting to catch national attention. Allen is one of 10 freshman named to the midseason wach list for the Wayman Tisdale Award, presented to the nation's top freshman.
After a relatively quiet start in which Allen averaged 6.2 points through nine games, Allen has quickly emerged as a major threat for the Florida offense, going for double figures in eight of the past 10 games, including five games with 18 or more.
Allen truly broke out with his 32-point night against Florida State and is UF's second-leading scorer in SEC play with 14.4 points per game.
The USBWA, comprised of nearly 1,000 sports journalists covering college basketball for newspapers, magazines and websites, will select the recipients of the Tisdale Award, which will be presented at the College Basketball Awards gala in Oklahoma City on April 11, 2016, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
