IRVINE, Calif. – University of Florida senior catcher Aubree Munro, senior infielder Kelsey Stewart, freshman pitcher Kelly Barnhill and Gator Great Michelle Moultrie will play for the USA Softball Women's National Team (WNT) during its 2016 campaign, the Amateur Softball Association of America announced on Friday. In addition, sophomore Nicole DeWitt was selected to play for the U.S. Women's Elite Team.
Moultrie and Stewart received their sixth and third consecutive selections to Team USA, respectively, while Munro and Barnhill were named to the national team for the first time. DeWitt will compete with the elite team after she and Barnhill spent last summer with the U.S. Junior National Team.
In total, 18 athletes were selected to represent the Red, White and Blue on the 2016 Women's National Team this summer while an additional 18 athletes have been named to the USA Softball Women's Elite Team. Held at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, Calif., 40 athletes participated in the selection camp where they were evaluated by members of the Women's National Team Selection Committee (WNTSC), who selected the two rosters.
Nine of the 18 athletes selected to the USWNT were from Southeastern Conference schools and Florida had the most representatives of any program in the country. In addition, Barnhill is the youngest athlete to be chosen for the U.S. Women's National Team's roster since Stanford's Ashley Hanson in 2009.
Representing the U.S. this summer as a member of the WNT are 12 returning veterans from the 2015 roster and six newcomers. Comprising the Women's Elite Team are 11 athletes who have experience in the Red, White and Blue on either the 2015 Women's or Junior Women's National Teams, while seven rookies will get their first taste of international experience this year.

Coaches' Corner
Florida Head Coach Tim Walton
"What a great opportunity for these five outstanding individuals to continue to learn and develop while playing for their country. I'm proud of all of them and can't wait to see how they perform this summer playing for the red, white and blue."
Women's National Team Head Coach Ken Eriksen
"This was definitely the deepest pool of athletes that have been to a National Team Selection Camp since 2010. I think this proves that our youth movement as far as participation numbers goes is very healthy in the U.S. The next step is taking this group of 36 athletes and continuing to develop them to be a mature group of ball players… I think we have what we need as far as position players and pitching depth to feel pretty good going into the future. Now, it's whether they have the capacity, as our returning veterans have proven, to take this more serious than ever before.
