Allie Monserez is one of three players in the country to post more than 55 assists in multiple matches this season
LEXINGTON, Ky. – One day after earning SEC Player of the Week honors, redshirt sophomore setter Allie Monserez has been named the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I National Player of the Week, the AVCA announced Tuesday (Oct. 18) afternoon.
This is the 14th time in history a Gator has won the weekly award, and Monserez is the first since junior All-American middle blocker Rhamat Alhassan won it on Sep. 8, 2015.
In a pair of UF road victories last week, Monserez, the national leader in assists per set (12.35), posted a double-double in a sweep of LSU and logged a 57-assist outing in a four-set win over defending SEC champion Texas A&M. The Windemere, Fla. native's 57 assists against the Aggies matched her career high—which also tied the highest total by an SEC player in a four-set match this season.
Monserez is one of three players in the country to post more than 55 assists in multiple four-set matches this season, with Oklahoma's Audrey Alford and Kansas State's Katie Brand being the only others to accomplish the feat.
Monserez's double-double versus the Tigers, her third of the season, came by way of 32 assists and 16 digs.

The Gators get their streak of home matches rolling Friday (Oct. 21) against Mississippi State at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network +, with Tom Collett and Missy Whittemore on the call. UF will follow that up with a Sunday (Oct. 23) match against Georgia at 12 p.m. ET, which will be televised by SEC Network. Courtney Lyle and Missy Whittemore will have the call.
