Saturday, October 22, 2016 | Women's Golf
Gainesville, Fla. – Three University of Florida women's golfers are set to begin individual competition at the Pat Bradley Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., on Sunday.
Senior Kelly Grassel, Junior Taylor Tomlinson, and sophomore Sam Wagner will all compete for the Gators in their last fall event of 2016-17.
Course Information: The tournament is being held at the par-72, 6,288-yard Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where each player will compete in three rounds.
Tee Times:
Sunday Rd. 1 – 8:15 a.m.
Monday Rd. 2 – 8:15 a.m.
Tuesday – 8:30 a.m.
The Gators' Lineup:
Sophomore Sam Wagner (Windermere, Fla.): Has the second lowest stoke average on the team (71.8) after competing in two tournaments this fall.
Junior Taylor Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.): Tied for eighth place at the Stanford Intercollegiate, leading the Gators at +2 (144).
Senior Kelly Grassel (Chesterton, Ind.): Tied for fourth place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, where she fired a 68, one shot off her collegiate best.
Assistant Coach Janice Olivencia Says:
"We have a different dynamic this week by only having three individuals take part in the event. But make no mistake, Taylor, Sam and Kelly are here to compete. No doubt there's the possibility of coming back home with some hardware, which is very exciting. Obviously, they will be supporting each other out there and representing the Gators proudly. It's going to be fun watching these girls get after it."
Follow the Gators: Play will begin on Sunday, October 23rd, as the Gators begin teeing off at 8:50 a.m. Live scoring will be available on BirdieFire.com. A complete recap with full results will be posted on FloridaGators.com following the day's play.
