University of Florida sophomore goalkeeper Kaylan Marckese is part of the final U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team camp, which runs December 10-17 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif.
This is the fourth U.S. U-18 WNT domestic training camp of the year. This group moves to the U-20 level next year and Marckese is among the 20 who were born in 1998, which is the cut-off year for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. This group's goal is to qualify for the next U-20 Women's World Cup, which will be played in France in 2018.
Marckese is among the 26 players U.S. Soccer Women's Development Coach Jitka Klimkova called into this camp, and she is also among the 14 collegiate players in attendance. She participated in a U-20 camp last December. Shoulder surgery forced her to decline any invitations for the spring and summer of 2016.
Marckese played every minute in goal for the Gators in 2016. Her nine solo shutouts in 2016 ties for third on UF's season shutouts list. She equaled her collegiate high of six saves four times and was twice named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
