With eight trails spanning over 30 miles, a 50-foot observation tower, fishing pier, campsites, and a boat ramp which also provides water access for canoes, the preserve offers many options to get involved with nature. The La Chua Trail, located on the north end of Paynes Prairie, offers the best place to see alligators outside of a UF Athletic event!

Florida Museum of Natural History
Florida’s only natural history museum, which is a leading authority in biodiversity and cultural heritage that presents the natural history and culture of Florida and the Caribbean, is also home to the Butterfly Rainforest and the Florida Fossils Collection. While most of the museum is offered free of charge, UF students are also granted free access to the Butterfly Rainforest.

There is something for every age, from slime and messy activities in our Creativity Lab to exhibits on the history of inventions to computer modeling in our Fabrication Lab.
