Monday, December 19, 2016 | Softball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A pair of Florida softball student-athletes received their degree from the University of Florida on Saturday, December 17, as commencement ceremonies were held at Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. A total of 20 other UF student-athletes received their diplomas as well.
"Extremely proud of Kelsey and Kirsti earning their degree from the University of Florida," UF head coach Tim Walton said. "Just being around them and watching them grow up has been pretty fun to see.
"They are prime examples of what we are looking to recruit – kids that are committed to putting in the hard work in earning their degree. Winning championships is just a byproduct of that hard work."
Kirsti Merritt and Kelsey Stewart have spent the last four years with the Gators softball program and have played an integral part of the unprecedented success that the program has seen during their time here.
On the field their senior class compiled a record of 229-35 (.867), three SEC Championships (2013,2015,2016), one SEC Tournament title (2013) and two NCAA WCWS Championships (2014,2015).
The duo of Taylore Fuller and Taylor Schwarz received their diplomas and the full release of their graduation achievements can be found HERE.

In Their Words
Kelsey Stewart
"My time here at UF and with the softball program has meant the world. There are honestly no words to describe what it's been like – all I can tell you is its shaped me into the woman I am today and that is something that I am the extremely proud of. There is no better feeling than saying 'I am a Gator' and not a single person can take that away from me."
Kirsti Merritt
"My time here was the best four years of my life. I came in as a freshman that had no idea what it took to be successful and had multiple people believe in and help me reach so many goals in softball and my academics. The biggest thing I will take away from my undergrad experience is how important relationships are in life – like the ones with my professors, teaching assistants, coaches and advisors – no matter who it is, their relationship matters and I will never forget them."
