GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- In just four days, the University of Florida men's and women's swimming and diving teams will open the 2016 Southeastern Conference Championships at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Missouri.
The meet will once again be a co-ed event, which will stretch five days and nine sessions from Tuesday, Feb. 16-20. Year-in and year-out, the SEC Championships hold up as one of the fastest conference meets in the nation. The meet itself is unique in that it features the five-day event lineup, which is longer than both the four-day schedules used by most Division I conferences, and the three-day schedule used at the NCAA Championships.

Looking Ahead
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, from March 16-19 (Women) and 23-26 (Men), when they compete 2016 NCAA Championships. The meet will be hosted by Georgia Tech inside the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
Scouting the Field:
SEC Eight teams on both the men's and women's sides of the competition field are ranked among the Nation's Top-25 teams, according to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Among those ranked, Georgia leads both the men's and women's charts coming in at No. 3 on the men's side and No. 1 on the women's.
We Meet Again
The Gators last go around at the SEC Championships resulted in a 2015 SEC Title on the men's side (3rd-straight) and a third-place showing on the women's end.

When it comes to swimming, the University of Florida carries with it a reputation of greatness. The Gator men (36) and Women (17) lead the SEC in all-time championship titles.
Notable Streaks
The Florida men carry a three-year win streak at the SEC Championships while the women look to end a six-year win streak held by the Georgia Bulldogs.

Florida's men's swimming & diving team won the program's third-straight and 36th overall Southeastern Conference Championship behind three SEC titles at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center in Auburn, Ala.
The Gators finished in front of second place Georgia (1,134.5) and third place Auburn (1,084) with a total score of 1,314.5 points. Florida was strong in all events, capturing individual victories in the 100-yard butterfly (Caeleb Dressel) and the 500-yard freestyle (Mitch D'Arrigo) and earned a relay gold in the 800- yard freestyle event (Wallace, Werner, Alexiou, D'Arrigo).
On the women's side, the Gators ended their conference championship in third place behind Georgia (1,450) and Texas A&M (1,166) for the second year in a row.
UF's women won four SEC championships, as Florida captured the 100-yard (Natalie Hinds), 200-yard (Amelia Maughan) and 1,650-yard freestyle (Jessica Thielmann) titles and the 200-yard individual medley crown (Theresa Michalak).

The Florida men have a point total of 189, and join SEC members Georgia (third), Auburn (sixth), Tennessee (10th), Alabama (11th) Missouri (13th), Texas A&M (24th), and LSU (25th). The Florida women came in at T-No. 9 this week (173 points). UF joins SEC foes Georgia (first), Texas A&M (fifth), Auburn (11th) Tennessee (13th), LSU (20th), Missouri (21st), and Alabama (23rd).

The University of Florida men's and women's swimming and diving teams had a strong finish to the 2016 regular season as the No. 3 men and No. 9 women each posted wins over a pair of ranked Tennessee squads on Saturday inside the Allen Jones Aquatic Center. The Florida men took a 185-115 decision over UT's 12thranked men's lineup while the Florida women came away with a 170-130 decision over the 13th-rankeed Lady Vols.
Swimming to the Postseason
Sophomores Caeleb Dressel and Jan Switkowski and junior Jack Blyzinskyj have combined to register six NCAA 'A' cuts to automatically qualify for the 2016 NCAA Championships in Atlanta this postseason. Natalie Hinds has also qualified in one event on the women's end. In addition 13 men and 12 women from the University of Florida swim team have combined for 75 NCAA 'B' cut times throughout the 2015- 16 season.
Diving to the Postseason
Four women and three men have combined for 18 NCAA diving provisional standards throughout the 2015-16 season.
A Special Year
The Gators' swim teams won't only be looking to make a run at the 2016 NCAA Championships this season. Rather, they'll have the opportunity to make Olympic trial-qualifying standards with the 2016 Summer Games approaching -- in addition to their NCAA 'A' and 'B' cut standard times. To this point in the 2016 season, 13 American Gators have already met U.S. Olympic Time Trial-qualifying standards in their respective events (Complete Chart on pg. 10).
Dressel, Balogh Gather Sec Honors: 2/2/16
Two members from the University of Florida men's swimming and diving team -- Caeleb Dressel and Brennan Balogh -- were named Southeastern Conference Swimmers of the Week following UF's 185-115 win over Tennessee on Jan. 30, inside the Allen Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. The SEC announced the recognitions on February 2.
