GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Head coach Tim Walton and the University of Florida softball team met with the media on Monday afternoon at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The Gators open their season Friday against Illinois State at the USF Wilson-DeMarini Tournament in Tampa, Fla.
Walton, along with all of UF's softball student-athletes, met with the assembled media ahead of the start of the 2016 campaign that has Florida ranked No. 1 in both of the national polls going into the opening weekend of the season.
"We're really looking forward to this 2016 season," Walton said. "We're not only looking forward to seeing our freshmen take the field for the first time, but it's also our last opening weekend for our five seniors, who have meant so much to our program."
