ATLANTA -- Senior Kahlia Warner shined in the University of Florida swimming and diving team's second day of competition at the 2016 NCAA Championships, diving to a sixth-place finish in tonight's 1-Meter springboard finals. Warner was joined in Day Two competition by fellow senior, Natalie Hinds, who finished tied for 12th in the 50-Yard freestyle event.
Florida's second day of competition took place inside the McAuley Aquatic Center on Georgia Tech's Campus in Atlanta. The Gators currently sit in 20th-place with 19.5 points after entering the day with two. Hinds brought in 4.5 points with her 50-Yard Freestyle finish while Warner produced 13 off her sixth-place showing on the springboard.
Warner, now a two-time All-American in the event, posted the top score in Thursday afternoon's prelims (329.60). Later in the finals, the Australian diver strung together a six-dive total of 318.95 to finish sixth in the event. Warner had a strong start to the finals, landing point totals of 60.00 and 56.35 on her first two dives but was gradually passed midway through the session.
Warner will compete in tomorrow's 3-Meter springboard competition.
Hinds also had an impressive outing on Thursday, tying for 12th-place in the 50-Yard Freestyle. The Midland, Texas, native clocked a time of 22.11 to finish 13th in the prelims and later a 22.15 in the finals to jump up a spot. Hinds will compete in tomorrow's 100-Yard Butterfly competition.

Florida Head Coach Gregg Troy on the Night:
"I'm really proud of how hard our girls swam today. We had an exceptional showing from Natalie Hinds and we received a strong showing from Kahlia Warner off the 1-Meter springboard."
Florida Head Diving Coach Dale Schultz on Kahlia Warner's Performance:
"I'm extremely pleased with the way Kahlia dove today. After winning prelims we had high expectations after winning the prelims. She missed one dive in the finals tonight and it's her hardest dive and unfortunately it's the first time she's missed it in her last six outings since the conference meet.
"When you look at the big picture, sometimes you live and die on the 'big dive'. Overall she did a great job and it's a testament to her phenomenal career at Florida. We've got two more events yet this week and we're really looking forward to tomorrow's competition on the 3-Meter."
Senior Natalie Hinds on her 50-Yard Freestyle Performance:
"It felt good to get back out there. I was a little disappointed with how I finished, but the most important takeaway was being able to score points for the team."
Senior Kahlia Warner on her 1-Meter Diving Performance:
"It was a perfect ending to my 1-Meter career here at UF. I've worked really hard for this and even thought I was going for the win at some points -- looking back on this, I'll be able to take a lot of pride in what I was able to accomplish tonight.
"Heading into tomorrow's 3-Meter competition, I'm just going to be confident in myself and take it dive-by-dive and not overthink anything."
