JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – The No. 8 Florida women's golf team will look to stay on top of the field and defend its 2015 title during Tuesday's final round of the Briar's Creek Invitational, in Johns Island, S.C. The Gators' second-round score of 280 matched the second-lowest round in program history.

Three Gators recorded under-par scores during the day's second round to propel the Orange and Blue to the front of the team standings with a 36-hole total of 572. Freshman Sam Wagner was the consistent force the Gators needed, carding back-to-back rounds of -2 (70), to sit in a tie for third.

Junior Kelly Grassel went bogey-free in the second round on her way to a collegiate-best -5 (67). Junior Maria Torres also went bogey-free in Round 2 to score -2 (70). Grassel is tied for seventh, while Torres is tied for 12th.

The Gators hold a three-stroke lead over the 18-team field and second-place Indiana, at the par-72, 6,185-yard Golf Club at Briar's Creek. Lauren Stephenson from Clemson sits on top of the individual leaderboard at -7 (137).

Head Coach Emily Glaser:
On the Gators' play Monday:
"I'm really happy with the bounce-back effort this afternoon. The conditions were tough today, and it got the best of us a few times, especially in the morning. We hung tough and were able to finish off round two. Our patience was exceptional today."

On the game plan for Tuesday's final round:
"We have to be ready to adapt tomorrow, as it will be quite cold in the morning. The pins will be different, potentially a little tougher, so I'm looking forward to seeing how we respond."
