Pair of Gators Head to U.S. Under-19 National Team Camp

GAINESVILLE, Florida - The upcoming U.S. Under-19 Women's Soccer National Team includes a pair of Gators. Rising sophomores Mayra Pelayo and Briana Solis will be among the 26 players at the March 12-19 camp held in Davis, California.
The camp will be run by U.S. Soccer Development Coach Jitka Klimkova.
The players in this age group will be trying to make an impression to get called in U-20 camps for consideration for the 2016 U-20 World Cup roster. The eighth FIFA Women's World Cup for this age level (the first two were held as U-19 events) will take place from Nov. 13-Dec. 3 in Papua New Guinea.
Pelayo, a member of the 2015 Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team, started 12 matches at attacking midfield for the Gators. She turned in a goal and three assists for the Florida team which swept the SEC regular-season and tournament titles and reached the NCAA Round of 16. Pelayo is making her second appearance at a U.S. camp in 2016. She attended the Jan. 3-10 U.S. U-20 camp in Chula Vista, California.
Solis appeared in 20 matches in her freshman season with three starts. She scored her first goal versus Arkansas and registered assists in NCAA action versus Western Michigan and William & Mary. This is also her second U-19 camp of 2016, as she attended a Jan. 23-30 camp in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
