Gator Women’s Golf Leads After First Round at Clemson

Sunset, S.C. – The No. 8 Florida women's golf team is in a familiar spot after day one of the Clemson Invitational, in Sunset, S.C. The Gators got off to a strong start by posting an opening-round score of -4 (284) to lead second-place No. 29 Houston and the 14-team field by one stroke.
Junior Karolina Vlckova led the team in Round 1 by carding a -3 (69), and is two strokes off the lead in a tie for third. After day one, freshman Sam Wagner is close behind teammate Vlckova after posting a -2 (70), to sit in a tie for seventh. Junior Kelly Grassel joins Vlckova and Wagner in the top 20, as she's tied for 18th at even (72). Jennifer Hahn from Vanderbilt leads the individual competition at -5 (67), at the 6,253-yard Reserve at Lake Keowee.

"It was a solid start for the team. I thought we did a good job today of taking advantage of the scoreable parts of the course. The girls are having fun out there, and it's showing in our scores."
