Dye, Watkins Named UF’s SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Nominees

H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship has been presented by the Southeastern Conference since 1986
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- University of Florida seniors Delaney Dye (swimming and Diving) and Jared Watkins (Track and Field) have been nominated by the University to represent the Gators for the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship.
The H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship has been presented by the Southeastern Conference since 1986 to the league's top male and female scholar-athletes.
The SEC will name the 2016 recipients of the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship on April 28.

About the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship
Each year, the SEC, in conjunction with AT&T, an SEC official sponsor, provides the league's male and female McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship recipients with a $15,000 post-graduate scholarship. The 26 remaining male and female finalists for the award will also receive a $7,500 post-graduate scholarship.
The award recipients are chosen by a committee of Faculty Athletics Representatives from the 14 SEC institutions and are honored at the SEC Spring Meetings in Sandestin, Fla., in early June.
Last year's McWhorter Award recipients were Nathanael Franks of the Arkansas track & field team and Maddie Locus of the Georgia swim team.

Delaney Dye, Women's Swimming and Diving
- Three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and a two-time recipient of Honorable Mention Scholar-Athlete All-America honors
- Four-year letter recipient for the Florida diving program
- Posted runner-up finishes off the one-meter and three-meter springboards against in-state rival Florida State earlier this season
- Was a Top-10 finisher at the 2016 SEC Championships off the 3-Meter this season
- Finished eighth off the platform at the 2015 SEC Championships
- Named a 2016 SEC Swimming and Diving Community Service member for her time spent volunteering in the community
- Participated in J.J. Finley Stadium Tours, Caleb's Pitch, Climb for Cancer, Baby Gators Field Day, and several other community events
- Sport management major with plans to pursue a graduate program in the fall of 2016
- Boasts a 3.82 grade point average throughout her career as a Gator.
Jared Watkins, Men's Track & Field
- Presented P&G Scholarship by the department for outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service (2015)
- University of Florida Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2014)
- Two-time University of Florida Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2014-15)
- Four-time Dean's List member (2012-15)
- Three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member (2013-15)
- Completed a technical internship within the engineering field each of the last three summers
- Recently accepted a full-time offer with Syngenta in their production and supply developmental program, beginning this July
- Tied the No. 10-ranked pole vault mark on UF's all-time outdoor top 10 at the 2014 Virginia Tech "Doc Hale" Elite Meet
- Chemical Engineering major, environmental science minor, carrying a 3.92 GPA
