EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Florida men's golf team wrapped up its 2015-16 season by placing 15th at the NCAA Championship on Monday. Freshman Sam Horsfield led the Gators in the final round of stroke play, posting a 1-under 69 to tie for 22nd.
Horsfield recorded a four-round total of +6 (286) to collect his 12th top-25 finish of the season. Playing in every tournament this year, the freshman placed in the top 25 in all but one event, recording eight top-five performances and winning three titles. His stroke average of 70.55 breaks Camilo Villegas' school record for lowest single-season stroke average (in records dating back to 1981-82).
Freshman Gordon Neale finished one stroke behind Horsfield, tying for 26th with a +7 (287).
Oregon's Aaron Wise shot +1 (71) on Monday to clinch the individual championship with a total of -5 (275). The top eight squads (Texas, Illinois, LSU, USC, Vanderbilt, Oregon, South Carolina and Oklahoma) advance to match play to determine the team champion.

On Round 4:
"It didn't go our way, and we just didn't have our best stuff this week, for whatever reason, but the guys fought hard and did everything they could. We just have to get back to work this summer and be ready to go next year."
On Sam Horsfield's fourth-round -1 (69):
"I was with Sam all day, from the first tee to 18 green, and he played great. He tends to make things look very easy, so that was solid."
