Duke James Bonk Invite - Day 1

Gators start fall season with Duke James Bonk Invite
Thursday, September 15, 2016 | Men's Tennis
Initial Draws
Cary, N.C. – The University of Florida men's tennis team officially begins the 2016 fall season this weekend with four Gators competing in the Duke James Bonk Invite.
Upperclassmen Joshua Wardell and Jordan Belga, and freshmen Stephen Madonia and David Sarkissov, will see both singles and doubles action this weekend at the Cary Tennis Park.
Madonia goes into the tournament seeded 2nd in his draw. His teammates will face some tough competition throughout the weekend, as Wardell faces #2 Jack Findel-Hawkins of UNF, Belga faces #3 Jeffrey Schorsch of Valpo, and the doubles team of Wardell/Madonia faces #1 Emhardt/Schorsch.
Head Coach Bryan Shelton
"I'm really looking forward to the guys getting to compete this weekend at a very good tournament. We typically focus on three things with practice or even tournaments or match play – it's always about preparation, execution and follow up. For our guys as they get started in competition this fall with this tournament, we really want them all to be thinking about those three phases."
"This is a great event there at Duke because they're going to play four singles matches and three doubles matches regardless of how they do. For two of our guys, David [Sarkissov] and Stephen [Madonia], it's really their first true college experience, competitively speaking. So they'll have some nerves out there, but that's part of the game, just learning how to manage those nerves and go out there and play and enjoy what they're doing and represent the Florida gators."
