Gators and Lady ‘Dawgs Meet Sunday, 1 pm

This is the first of two meetings this season between Florida and Georgia. The teams will meet again on February 26 in Gainesville in the regular-season finale for both teams.
ATHENS, Ga. – The Gators pack their bags again and play for the 15th time this season away from Gainesville, this time as they head the 350 miles North to Athens, where they face SEC-rival Georgia on Sunday.
 
Tip-off from Stegeman Coliseum is schedule for 1 p.m. and the game will be televised live on SEC Network with Jenn Hildreth and Steffi Sorensen calling the action.
 
Both teams enjoyed a bye on Thursday and last played on Sun., January 15.
 
This is the first of two meetings this season between the Gators and Bulldogs. The teams will meet again in Gainesville on Sun., February 28 in the regular-season finale for both teams.
 
Twice the Fun
  • During the 2016-17 season's 16-game SEC schedule, the Gators will play Georgia (their 'permanent' rival), Tennessee and Texas A&M twice.
 
The Series: Florida vs. Georgia
  • 68-Game Series: UF trails 15-53 (UF Home: 10-23; Away: 5-28; Neutral: 0-2)
  • Georgia has won three straight, as well as seven of the last eight games against Florida.
  • The Gator win during that span was a rare victory (51-48) in Athens on Feb. 12, 2015 That was just the fifth win all-time in Stegeman for UF.
 
Flashback
  • The two teams met twice last year and Georgia won both games.
  • In the more recent game against Georgia, the Gators scored 63 points.
  • 36 of those points were scored by Gators who will be suiting up on Sunday.
 
What Just Happened
  • Florida dropped a tough 67-59 decision to Texas A&M and fell to 0-5 in SEC action.
  • Georgia is coming off a two-game SEC road trip, most recently dropping an 82-61 score at Kentucky.

  • Ronni Williams led UF in scoring as a sophomore and junior and is doing so again this season.
  • Williams became the 24th Gator to score 1,000 career points, doing so on Dec. 3 vs. Long Beach State.
  • She became the 15th Gator to collect 700 career rebounds, eclipsing the mark on January 5 at LSU.
  • In addition to leading the Gators in scoring with 17.7 points per game, Williams also leads the Gators in rebounding (7.8 pg) and is second for assists (49) this year.

  • During the last SIX games, Ronni Williams, the lone four-year senior on the team, is contributing 19.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, while hitting 58.5 percent from the field.
  • Classmate Tyshara Fleming has corralled a team-best 7.8 rebounds over the last SIX games, in addition to 7.0 points.
