NORTH PLAINS, Ore. -- Through 12 holes of play, the Gators were tied for the lead at seven-under-par with three players in the top 10 of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational.
Florida (-6) ended day one of the event with 278 total and are tied for fifth heading into Monday.
After helping the Gators to a victory at the Trinity Forest earlier this week,
Chris Nido and
Andy Zhang brought their strong play west.
Nido carded a career-low 67 (-4) pouring in six birdies in his opening 18. He is tied for seventh while Zhang is just one stroke back of him and tied for 13th on the leaderboard. Zhang had just one bogey on day one while being able to circle the scorecard four times.
Freshman
Won Jun Lee made his first start as a Florida Gator as he was penciled in the No. 5 spot this week by coach J.C. Deacon. Lee finished the round one-over-par as he birdied the par five seventh and the par three 15th.
Round two starts tomorrow morning 11:00 a.m. (ET) from Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course.

Chris Nido came up huge with a 67. Tomorrow is going to be a really good test for us as we need a great round to get in contention before the final round on Tuesday."Â
On points of emphasis this season -- " We are building this year around being patient, disciplined, and emotionally in control. It's so much fun watching our guys improve on these skills every day. Another great chance to grow tomorrow."" - Coach
