Three Gators in U.S. Under-23 National Team Camps

Kristen Cardano, Mayra Pelayo and Gabby Seiler called into U.S. Under-23 National Team Camps
GAINESVILLE, Florida – A trio of Gators will be part of U.S. Under-23 National Soccer Team Camps, which span the next two weeks on each coast.
There are two camps, with the first running from March 26-April 1 in Portland, Ore. The next is April 2-8 in Orlando, Fla.
The camps will field different rosters for each event, Rising senior Gabby Seiler is one of six participating in both camps. Gators joining Seiler for the Orlando camp is rising junior midfielder Mayra Pelayo and rising senior defender Kristen Cardano.
The first camp participates in the Thorns Invitational, facing three NWSL teams at Providence Park. The tournament consists of three doubleheaders [schedule below]. The Orlando camp features a closed-door match against the Orlando Pride on April 7 at 2 p.m. and a match versus Central Florida on April 5.
About the Gators:
Seiler was a first-team selection for both National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region and All-Southeastern Conference teams in 2016. The versatile player who can play midfield, center or outside back started every match in 2016.
Pelayo appeared in every match, with 19 starts at attacking midfield. The creative midfielder was fourth among the Gators with four goals and 17 points and tied for second with nine assists – all collegiate season-highs.
Cardano was a NSCAA All-South Region third team selection and appeared on the All-SEC second team as a junior. The speedy defender started 22 matches, playing the entirety of 16.
