Carter's Corner: A Closer Look at Cameron Newbauer
Monday, March 27, 2017 | Women's Basketball, Scott Carter
Newbauer will be introduced as Florida's new women's basketball head coach on Tuesday.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Cameron Newbauer grew up in the Hoosier State, so basketball is in his blood.
The new Gators women's basketball head coach has spent the last four years as head coach at Belmont University in Nashville. As a player, the 38-year-old Newbauer played at Leo High in Fort Wayne, Ind., and then a season at Madonna (Mich.) University.
He then launched his coaching career.
Newbauer once served as an assistant on former Gators assistant coach Rob Lanier's staff at Sienna and as a graduate manager/director of basketball operations for the men's team at Georgia before making the transition to the women's college game, where he is viewed as a rising star.
Newbauer is a stranger to Gator Nation but not for much longer. He'll officially be introduced at a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
