A top-two team finish would send Florida to its 35th NCAA Championship.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The road to St. Louis starts in the Gators' home arena, as the NCAA Gainesville Gymnastics Regional Championships is this Saturday, April 1. Meet time is set for 4 p.m. in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
NCAA Regional action is making its 13th appearance in the O'Connell Center and first since 2013.
Florida NCAA Regional History
The six-team field for the NCAA Gainesville Gymnastics Regional includes No. 3 Florida, No. 10 Georgia, No. 15 Missouri, No. 30 New Hampshire No. 33 Penn State and No. 35 North Carolina.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each of the nation's six region sites advances to the NCAA Championships, set for April 14-15 at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo. A top-two team finish would send Florida to its 35th NCAA Championship berth in the event's 36-year history.

Reminder that Gator track & field teams play host to the Pepsi Florida Relays this weekend at the nearby James G. Pressly Stadium. Fans for either gymnastics or track can utilize the parking shuttle. It will make stops at both the O'Connell Center and Pressly Stadium on Saturday.

About the Gainesville Regional Field:
The 2017 Gainesville Regional contains two teams that advanced to the 2016 NCAA Super Six team final – Florida (4th in 2016) and Georgia (6th).
Three other teams among the field look to return to NCAA Championship action - Missouri (2010 – last appearance), Penn State (2014) and New Hampshire (1994). North Carolina seeks its first NCAA berth.
Gator Honors:
Junior Alex McMurtry was a double-winner in the Southeastern Conference Awards revealed March 23. McMurtry is the fourth Gator to claim the SEC Gymnast of the Year award and first since 2015. She also is the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She is the second in SEC history to take both honors in a single season.
Joining her on the All-SEC team was juniors Kennedy Baker, Rachel Slocum, sophomore Alicia Boren and freshman Amelia Hundley. Gators had a pair on the SEC All-Freshman team – Rachel Gowey and Hundley.
The same five Gators who earned All-SEC honors picked up National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC) Regular-Season All-America honors, announced March 24. McMurtry (vault, bars – first team, beam - second) and Boren (all-around, vault, floor – all first) each claimed three honors. First-team honors also went to Baker (floor) and Slocum (vault). Hundley claimed first team honors for bars and second-team for all-around.
