LAS VEGAS – The Florida's men's golf team began play on Monday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate and shot a team score of 292 (+4). With that tally, the Gators are in a tie for ninth place.
Junior Alejandro Tosti finished Monday's round at the top of the lineup, shooting a one-under 71 to go along with a team-high five birdies.
In addition, rookie Andy Zhang was second on the squad with four birdies on Monday.

USC tops the team leaderboard after shooting a 278 (-10) in the first round. California's Collin Morikawa leads the individual scores, carding a 66 (-6) on day one.

The Gators are back in action tomorrow at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas for round two at noon ET.

On his team's performance during the first day:
"I thought we played great and was really happy with their patience, discipline and attitudes. We just had a couple of bad swings at the wrong time and it cost us some big numbers and that's the reason for the inflated score."

On what his team has to do in the second round to post a good score:
"I think we have to keep doing the same things. They're all playing well. We just have to stay patient and not force the issue and all of the guys understand that. I'm really excited for tomorrow, I think we're going to have a great day."
