Seven Gators Land On NFCA All-Region Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association selected seven members of the Florida softball team to the All-Southeast Region Teams.
The seven selections tie for the most selections to the All-Southeast Region Teams in a single season at Florida. In 2016, the Gators placed seven, five first team selections and two third team, on the all-region teams..
This year Kelly Barnhill (P), Nicole DeWitt (IF), Amanda Lorenz (OF) and Aleshia Ocasio (UT/P) earned spots on the first team while Delanie Gourley (P), Kayli Kvistad (IF) and Justine McLean (OF) landed on the all-region second team.
Aleshia Ocasio makes her third career appearance as an NFCA All-Region First Team selection while Amanda Lorenz earned her second first team accolade in as many seasons. Barnhill and DeWitt, who earned a spot on the third team all-region last season, makes their first appearance on the first team.
Senior Delanie Gourley was placed on the NFCA All-Southeast Region Second Team for her second career all-region accolade. Last season Gourley earned NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team honors on the way to becoming a 2016 First Team All-American.
Like Gourley, Kvistad earned a spot on the second team for her efforts so far during the 2017 season. In 2016, Kvistad placed on the NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team and earned Second Team All-American Honors by the end of her sophomore campaign.
Justine McLean earned her first NFCA All-Southeast Region accolade with her placement on the second team.
The 2017 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 31, via NFCA.org.
The Gators are in their final day of preparation for the 2017 NCAA Tournament, which will start tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium on the SEC Network.
