Gators Advance to Round of 16 in NCAA Individual Tournament

ATHENS, Ga. – Alfredo Perez and Johannes Ingildsen will both move on to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Tournament on Friday (May 26). Alfredo Perez defeated both of his first round opponents, while the doubles team of Perez and Johannes Ingildsen defeated their Round of 32 opponent on Thursday (May 25).
In singles, Perez defeated TCU's Alex Rybakov 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. Each set remained close until the very end, with Perez going up by only a break in the first and third sets to win the match.
In doubles, the No. 2 [3] Gators lost the first set to UC Santa Barbara's No. 35 Freund/Mays. Ingildsen and Perez found their momentum in the second set to win, sending the match into a third set tiebreak. Florida ultimately defeated the Gauchos 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.

"We knew they were a really good team, we saw them play the indoors when they beat the number one team in the country earlier this fall. We knew we needed to be ready and they came out strong in the first set, but we found a way to battle back. It was a good win for us."
