
Barnhill makes her first appearance on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team while Kvistad earns her second.
Kvistad & Barnhill Placed On CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The College Sports Information Directors of America named both junior Kayli Kvistad and sophomore Kelly Barnhill to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 softball team earlier today.
Kvistad, a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-American, made the all-district team for the second-consecutive year while Barnhill earns first ever spot on the team. Overall, it is the 23rd & 24th all-district selections under head coach Tim Walton.
On the field, the talented duo have been setting records both at the plate and inside the circle this season. Kvistad set the single-season record for walks after she drew her 50th of the season in the sixth inning against Ole Miss. The Lake City, Fla. native now has 54 walks, ranks second nationally, on the season to go along with team-leading marks in batting average (.391), RBIs (46) and doubles (12). Kvistad's .577 on-base percentage ranks third in the nation.
Academically, Kvistad majors in Communication Sciences and Disorders and sports a 3.77 GPA.
Barnhill's on the field achievements have been just as impressive as she leads the nation in ERA (0.30), hits allowed per seven innings (2.85) and strikeouts per seven innings (13.2). The Marietta, Ga. native set two single-game Florida records last night against Florida State as she served up 21 strikeouts over 10.1 innings.
The talented sophomore also ranks nationally in shutouts (11 – 3rd), strikeouts (263 – 6th) and victories (21 – 18th).
Barnhill currently holds a 3.93 GPA with a major of Public Relations and Economics.
Both Kvistad and Barnhill move onto the national ballot, where they will compete against other districts for spots on the CoSIDA Academic All-American team. The Division I teams will be announced on May 25.
The Gators enter their last home stand of the 2017 regular season with a three game series against North Texas slated to start at 7 p.m. Friday.
