
Twelve Gators Set to Compete at FINA World Championships

Ten Countries Represented; Competition Begins on July 23 in Budapest, Hungary
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators' swimming and diving programs have 10 current or former swimmers on rosters for the FINA World Championships. Those 10 swimmers represent eight of the countries competing in Budapest, Hungary beginning Sunday.
On the men's side, seven Gators from six countries will be competing for gold, including rising seniors Caeleb Dressel (USA), Mark Szaranek (Great Britain), Jan Switkowski (Poland) and Enzo Martinez-Scarpe (Uruguay). Another current Gator set to compete is rising sophomore Khader Baqlah, who will represent Jordan.
Closing out the male competitors are Conor Dwyer, Corey Main, Carlos Omana and Omar Pinzon. The former Gators are set to represent Team USA, Team New Zealand, Team Venezuela and Team Columbia, respectively.
One current Gator will race on the women's side, with Liliana Szilagyi representing the host country of Hungary. Former Florida swimmers Elizabeth Beisel and Hilda Luthersdottir are also set to compete, with Beisel representing the US in her 12th straight year and Luthersdottir will compete for Iceland.
