Florida vs. Ranked Teams
- Florida has lost its a last nine games against nationally ranked teams, including three this season: Florida State (Nov. 17), Ohio State (Dec. 6) and Mississippi State (Jan. 25).
Cam's Connections: Florida-Georgia
- Gator Coach Cameron Newbauer worked with both the Georgia men's and women's basketball teams early in his career.
- He began as a graduate manager with the men's team (2003-04) and later served as the program's director of basketball operations (2005-07).
- Hall of Fame Coach Andy Landers welcomed Newbauer onto his women's staff as an assistant coach from 2007-12.
- Newbauer married the former Sarah Millender in May of 2011 on the University of Georgia's Herty Field.
Gators vs. Bulldogs: The Series
- 70-Game Series: UF trails 17-53 (UF Home: 11-23; Away: 6-28; Neutral: 0-2)
- Streak: Florida won both of last year's regular-season games for just the third time in program history.
- Prior to last season's sweep, Georgia had won three straight and seven of the last eight against UF.
- Long Streak: The 70-game series with Georgia is the second-most against any of Florida's opponents.
Twice the SEC Fun
- During the 2017-18 season's 16-game SEC schedule, the Gators will play Georgia (their 'permanent' rival), Ole Miss and 2017 NCAA national-runner-up Mississippi State twice.
Gators for THREEEEEE!
- Entering Sunday's game, the Gators are averaging 8.8 three-pointers per game and converting at a 32.0 percent clip.
- Thru games played Jan. 25, UF ranks tied-No. 23 in the country in threes per game; and No. 14 in total three-pointers made (181).
- Florida has converted double-digit threes in NINE games this year, most recently 10 vs. Kentucky (Jan. 11).
If the season ended today after playing just 21 games ...
- The Gator's 185 three-pointers would be TIED for the fifth-most in a season in program history.
- Florida's 32.0 percent 3-point shooting effort would rank as the tied-for-seventh best in a season in program history.
What Else do the Gators do well?
- Aside from hitting the three at an SEC-leading rate (all games), Florida does not get fouled. The Gators rank No. 3 in the country in staying out of foul trouble, being whistled for just 12.6 fouls per game.
What Just Happened
- Funda Nakkasoglu scored 19 and Florida held the rebounding edge against the taller Mississippi State squad, however, the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs took advantage of several missed opportunities and an impressive third quarter to earn the 90-53 decision.
- A 10-2 run cut Florida's deficit down to 22-20 with 5:41 remaining in the second quarter. The Gators had chance to tie the game on their next possession but couldn't inbound the ball and the Bulldogs made them pay with a quick Vivans' bucket that sparked an 13-0 MSU swing.
- Florida was within 15 points with 4:36 left in the third, but the Bulldogs countered with 11 straight points that started a devastating 16-2 run over a 2:50 span for a 29-point difference with 1:26 remaining in the third quarter and the Gators wouldn't recover.
