GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida's fourth-ranked men's team and 16th-ranked women's team earned Scholar All-America honors, as the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America announced on Monday.
The CSCAA announced that 688 teams earned the distinction of Scholar All-America after the performance in the classroom during the Fall of 2017.
To be eligible for All-America distinction, a team must have a minimum 3.0 GPA as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student athletes.
The women's team finished the fall semester with a GPA of 3.42 and the men followed with a cumulative GPA of 3.21.
Florida's women are one-of-12 SEC teams to earn All-America honors, while eight SEC men's teams – including the Gators – earned the accolade.
The teams on the list have excelled both in the classroom and in the pool, with 85% of Top 25 programs across NCAA, NAIA and NCJAA divisions earning the honor.
