Seven Gators Selected for Team USA Trials

OKLAHOMA CITY – The USA Softball Women's National Team recently announced the invitees to its 2019 selection trials, which will be held Jan. 1-6, 2019 at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla.
Seven Gators, two current and five former, were selected to attend the trials along with 34 other athletes from across the country. Seniors Kelly Barnhill and Amanda Lorenz, will compete alongside fellow Gators Michelle Moultrie, Kelsey Stewart, Aubree Munro, Kirsti Merritt and Delanie Gourley for roster spots on the 2019 Team USA squad.
After the selection trials, USA Softball will select 18 athletes for the 2019 USA Softball WNT Training Team roster that will compete at the 2019 International Cup along with select international events.
From there the roster will be trimmed down to 15 players to participate in the Pan American Games, July 31-August 11, in Lima, Peru.
All seven Gators were members that competed for the Red, White and Blue this past summer.
Barnhill, Moultrie, Stewart, Munro and Merritt competed on the World Championship team that secured a bid to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics at the WBSC World Championships, while Lorenz and Gourley suited up on the Japan All-Star Series roster that claimed Bronze Medal at the 2018 International Cup.
