Dimitrova/Zein Claim Doubles Title at FSU

Gator tandem posts 3-0 mark in final fall test
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Newcomers Tsveta Dimitrova and Marlee Zein finished off their fall doubles season in style as they earned the Flight A Title Saturday afternoon at the Seminole All-Conference Showdown played at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Courts on the Campus of Florida State University.
On the singles side, junior Katie Kubicz punched a ticket to the Flight C Championship by posting a victory over North Florida's Lucia Montano 6-2, 6-4.
The Gator duo, who posted two convincing wins in Friday's opening round of action, carried its momentum into Saturday's competition. Taking on Florida State's Ana Oparenovic and Petra Hule, Dimitrova/Zein cruised to a 6-2 victory and ended the fall campaign with a win.
Dimitrova and Zein also participated in singles consolation play. Dimitrova fell to North Florida's Rafaela Gomez 1-6, 0-6 while Zein dropped a hard-fought decision to Oregon's Paiton Wagner. Zein fell in the first set, 6-7 (1-7) but charged back to win the second stanza 6-1. After mounting the rally, Zein fell in a tiebreak, 4-10.
The event concludes Sunday morning with a round of singles and a round of doubles.
