Three-time Junior Olympic Level 10 champion Payton Richards will join the Gators for the 2020 season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three-time Junior Olympic Level 10 champion Payton Richards joins the Gator gymnastics team for the 2020 season, Gator head coach Jenny Rowland announced Wednesday.
Richards shared the 2017 Junior Olympics Senior A balance beam title. In 2016 J.O. Junior E competition, Richards won the all-around title and claimed the beam win. She finished among the top four all-arounders in the last three J.O. Nationals.
"We are so excited to welcome Payton Richards to our Gator family. "Not only is she extremely talented, but a super consistent athlete as well. We look forward to seeing her shine on all the events. She's definitely going to be a contender in the all-around beginning in her freshman year."

The 2019 season opens Friday, Jan. 11 when the Missouri Tigers visit the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

- 2016 JO Level 10 Junior E all-around co-champion and claimed beam title. Also shared third on vault
- 2018 and 2017 Region 5 Level 10 balance beam champion and all-around runner-up in both meets. Also 2016 Region 5 Junior all-around champion
- 2018, 2017, 2016 Region 5 All-Star Team
- 2017 Metroplex Challenge beam champion. All-around runner-up and shared second on vault
- 2018 Illinois Level 10 all-around, vault, bars, beam champion. Claimed 2017 state titles for all-around, vault and bars
- Member of Aerials Gymnastics Club in Downers Grove, Ill., and is coached by Don and Patrice McPherson
