LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Several members of the Florida Gators men's tennis team will travel to Lakewood Ranch for the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Classic.
Freshmen Lukas Greif and Harrison Cacciatore, sophomore Brian Berdusco and senior McClain Kessler will compete for the Gators at the three-day tournament.
Greif and Berdusco last saw action at ITA Regionals. Berdusco qualified for the Oracle ITA Fall National Competition with partner Johannes Ingildsen after winning the doubles championship. Greif lost in the round of 32 after winning his first round match.
Kessler played in the Player Choice Open Futures tournament in Birmingham last week. He earned a first round win in the qualifying singles draw, before losing in the second round and falling just short of the main draw.
Cacciatore has not competed for the Gators since the Gamecock Fall Invitational.
All four of the Gators will compete in the singles draw. Berdusco and Greif will serve as one of Florida's doubles pair, while Kessler and Cacciatore will compete together for the other doubles pair.
This is the only collegiate event played on clay courts and also a portion of the tournament's proceeds go to the V Foundation for cancer research.
The Clay Court Classic features both a men's and women's bracket with singles and doubles. The singles bracket features a 32-player draw while the doubles draw is comprised of 16 pairs. The SEC, ACC, BIG 10, BIG 12, Atlantic Sun, ECAC and the Ivy League will be represented at the Dick Vitale tournament.
