Fred Johnson has been named to the 2018 SEC Football Community Service team, as the Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday.

The SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 21-league sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.
Â
Johnson is earning his Bachelor's degree in Agricultural & Life Sciences. He has done numerous hours of community service with 17 different community service organizations, including Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) sponsored events such as Breakfast Buddies, Gator Mentor, Q&A Read to Kids and Stomp the Swamp for Autism.  Johnson has also volunteered his time with Hope International, JJ Finley Elementary School, Boys & Girls Club, Girl's Place, Habitat for Humanity, Westwood Middle School, March for Babies and All-Pro Dad & Kid.

With all of these different events and organizations, Johnson has spent close to 30 hours volunteering since February and 70 hours since April 2017.

On the field, the West Palm Beach, Fla. native has been a consistent component to the Gators' offensive line. He started all 12 games this season at right guard. Johnson has appeared in 43 games and started 32 and has switched between right tackle and right guard.Â
