
Nembhard Earns Freshman of the Week Honors

Gainesville, Fla. – Point guard Andrew Nembhard was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, announced by the league office Monday. This is the first accolade for the freshman.
A 6-foot-5, 191-pound freshman from Aurora, Ontario, Canada, Nembhard played a near-flawless floor game with 11 assists and no turnovers in 22 minutes against North Florida last week. He had seven of his assists at the break, having dished on five of the team's first eight field goals. In the last two games, Nembhard has 18 assists and zero turnovers. With the 11 assists against North Florida, he became the eighth SEC player and second SEC freshman since 1996-97 to have 11+ assists and zero turnovers in a game.
Nembhard is averaging 6.5 assists a game this season, along with seven points and three rebounds.
The Gators are back in action Tuesday, December 4, in New York City when they take on Wes Virginia as part of the Jimmy V Classic. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. ET.
