GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida softball team continues action at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium this weekend with the Aquafina Invitational.
 
Starting Friday morning, 13 games will be played through to the following Sunday.
 
The Florida offense has been hot to start the season as the team has scored 83 runs on the year. So this weekend, with every run that the Gators score, Pepsi will plant one tree in the Gainesville community.
 
The Gators first action of the invitational is set for 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon when the team takes on Maryland. Florida will follow up that game with a nightcap against Illinois State at 7 p.m.
 
After the team took a pair of games over Oakland University in a midweek doubleheader by the scores of 6-2 & 10-0 (5), the program will look to continue to build momentum over the weekend. Kelly Barnhill struck out 15 in the first game, while Katie Chronister provided a solid outing in game two. Chronister limited the Golden Grizzlies to just one hit through four innings.
 
Every game that the Gators play in during the Aquafina Invitational will be broadcast on WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM). Kyle Crooks and former Gator softball standout Kelsey Horton will have the call Friday then followed up by Ryan Urquhart and Horton Saturday and Sunday.
 
Notable Notes

• Junior Amanda Lorenz has reached base safely in every game so far this season.
  • Last year she reached safely in all but two games for the Gators.
• Kelly Barnhill recorded a season-high 15 strikeouts in game one against the Golden Grizzlies.
  • She now has two 10 + strikeout games on the season, including a no-hitter against UNF.
  • Barnhill has struck out the side seven times this year.
• The Gators have eight shutouts on the season through just 11 games played.
  • Last year Florida tallied a program-record 40 shutouts.
• Katie Chronister currently has a scoreless inning streak of 10.0 innings this season, and hasn't allowed a run in 12.2 innings which dates back to her freshman year.
