The award honors the player of the year in women’s college golf
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida sophomore Sierra Brooks has been named to the ANNIKA Award Watch List, as announced by award committee Thursday afternoon.
The award honors the player of the year in women's college golf as selected by college golfers, coaches and members of the golf media.
This is the first time since the award's inception in 2014 that a Gator has made the watch list.
Brooks has had a strong start to Florida career bookending her first three events with wins at the Florida Challenge and the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
She is coming off a four stroke victory at the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday as her three round score of 7-under helped propel the Gators to their first team win of the season.
Brooks is the only player in the program history to record two wins in her first three start. She also won by stroke at the Florida Challenge birding the final hole to claim the title.
Voting will open at the end of the NCAA Regionals and run through the end of the NCAA tournament with the winner receiving an exemption into the LPGA's Major Championship, The Evian.
